LOVE ALL YOUR COLOURS

COMPOSER NOTES

Brighton Pride, in the UK, is one of the biggest Pride events in the world with a long, fierce history. Despite a lot of commercial influence, the march is still a protest and it takes over the whole city for a whole colourful week. I hummed this song into my phone as a voice-note, in tempo with a samba drumming band, as I watched the march go by. Each of us is made up of unique details, personalities, looks, ideals. I see all those traits as colours and this song is about loving all of them.

This bold anthem of self-acceptance bursts with soaring melodies and vivid storm-to-sunlight imagery, perfect for showcasing your choir’s full dynamic range. With its unforgettable chorus—“Love all your colours”—and a universal message celebrating our differences, it’s a transformative piece that moves singers and audiences alike. Your choir and your audience will be humming this for weeks.

THE TEXT

Inside those eyes of yours is a raging storm
And a golden rising sun.
I wish that you could see what I can see
cos you’ve only just begun.

And I know a thousand people telling you, “Just be you,”
Puts a cloud across your mirror every time.
They can’t see the storm inside your eyes, they just see you
So let it go, I promise you’ll be fine.

Love all your colours
Love all your words
Love every part of you
that’s out of view
and hiding in your hurt

Love, love louder everyday.
Love, love louder every way.

No shame in loving
No grace in lies
Name every colour
Look in your eyes
Love in all your colours

You hold inside you all the burning fire
Of a thousand shooting stars.
I’ve seen you change the world with just your smile
And it makes me love you more, more, more

CH

Inside those eyes of yours is a raging storm,
And a golden rising sun.
